Special Newsletter Issue: ARC Review Opportunity!
Want to read a book before it's published? Here's your chance!
We're looking for teen readers to review ARCs (Advance Reader Copies) of upcoming middle grade and young adult books before they hit the shelves. As a reviewer, you'll get a free copy of the book to keep in exchange for your honest review.

Review Requirements:

Your review should be at least 8 sentences long and focused on your thoughts about the book. Keep plot summary short - no more than two sentences. Instead, tell us what you liked or didn’t like. Was the writing style fun or hard to get into? Did the characters feel real? Did it remind you of any books, shows, or movies you already love? Be honest, be specific, and most of all - have fun sharing your opinions!
Take a look below to see which books are up for grabs!
These ARCs are one-of-a-kind (literally - we only have one copy of each),
so it’s first come, first served!

If you're the first to claim a title, you’ll get a confirmation email with all the details on how and when to pick up your book. Just one favor: only request a book if you're totally in for writing a review, so everyone gets a fair shot at this awesome opportunity!

Heiress of Nowhere
by Stacey Lee
"An orphan races to uncover a killer - who may have come from the sea - when she and her beloved orcas fall under suspicion in this historical gothic mystery from the New York Times bestselling author of The Downstairs Girl, Stacey Lee."

1918. Orcas Island, Washington. Lucy Nowhere has spent her life working on the vast estate of the eccentric shipbuilder who took her in after she washed ashore as a baby in a green canoe. Still, she has long wished for a life off the island, which holds no answers for her. After a series of seal heads begin appearing on beaches, Lucy stumbles upon her employer’s severed head on the shoreline. Rumors swirl that a mischievous spirit has struck again, much like it commanded its minions, the sea wolves, to kill a nameless cannery worker years ago. But the science-minded Lucy believes a murderer, not the sea wolves, is at fault.

Then Lucy is named the heiress of the estate, displacing a dashing relation. The inheritance casts Lucy herself under suspicion. And worse, paints a large target on her back. Though her friend, the watchful estate cowboy guard, urges her to leave the island with him, Lucy knows the only way she can discover who she is, and to free the island of its curse, is to find the real killer - before she becomes the next victim.
The Danger of Small Things
by Caryl Lewis
"A teen uses her art to protest injustice and galvanize others to resist in this fierce, gorgeously written near-future dystopian novel about girls finding their voices in the darkest of times, perfect for fans of The Handmaid’s Tale and Girls with Sharp Sticks."

The whole world rested on a single bee’s wings…until that last honeybee died, and the balance of the universe tipped. Now, famine and war rage across the land. People are no longer allowed to read or create art. They are forbidden to believe in the existence of love. Like every other girl, Jess has been taken from her home to live in a government dormitory, where they are forced to pollinate crops by hand with brushes. But unlike the others, Jess knows how to read and paint...and she knows that brushes aren’t meant for pollinating.

Jess is her mother’s daughter, with a strong streak of rebellion that even the harshest punishment can’t stamp out. She knows there is something horribly wrong with this system built on the hard labor of young girls, a system that forces them to marry and have children as soon as they are able. With smuggled paints and brush in hand, can Jess inspire a revolution?
Seyoon and Dean, Unscripted
by Sujin Witherspoon
Winning is Seyoon Shin’s middle name. Okay, it’s not, but she is a winner - despite what her critical dad says. Dean Parker, on the other hand, isn’t beating anyone to the finish line. His strengths are more brain, less brawn.

When Evergreen Expedition - a wilderness game show with an eccentric host and a cult following - announces a reboot, they both jump at the chance to win the prize. Seyoon’s competitiveness fuels a fire in Dean he’s never felt before, and his hunger to prove himself rivals hers. To get to the finals, they realize they need each other. Seyoon and Dean form an alliance, which the opportunistic producers are quick to frame as romantic. The rivals-to-lovers angle is good for views and intimidating the competition, but their chemistry is just for show . . . right?

As the lines blur between friendship and romance, reality and reality TV, Seyoon and Dean can’t ignore that the finale is fast approaching...and only one of them can win.

by Katie Bernet

Beth could have been killed by anyone.Beth’s perspective told in flashback unfolds next to Meg, Jo, and Amy’s increasingly fraught investigation as the tragedy threatens to rip the Marches apart.

If Looks Could Kill
by Julie Berry
"From Printz Honor–winning and New York Times bestselling author Julie Berry, a true-crime-nail-biter-turned-mythic-odyssey pitting Jack the Ripper against Medusa. A defiant love song to sisterhood, a survivors’ battle cry, and a romantic literary tour de force laced with humor."

It’s autumn 1888, and Jack the Ripper is on the run. As London police close in, he flees England for New York City seeking new victims. But a primal force of female vengeance has had enough. With serpents for hair and a fearsome gaze, an awakened Medusa is hunting for one thing: Jack.

And other dangers lurk in Manhattan’s Bowery. Salvation Army volunteers Tabitha and Pearl discover that a girl they once helped has been forced to work in a local brothel. Tabitha’s an upstate city girl with a wry humor and a thirst for adventure, while farmgirl Pearl takes everything with stone-cold seriousness. Their brittle partnership is tested as they team up with an aspiring girl reporter and a handsome Irish bartender to mount a rescue effort, only to find their fates entwine with Medusa’s and Jack’s.
Angry Girls Will Get Us Through
by Rebecca Fraiser
"In her first book for young readers, New York Times bestselling author and New York magazine writer-at-large Rebecca Traister draws material from her award-winning books and articles to show girls their anger has the power to be a force of change, just like for many trailblazers before them."

From an early age, young girls are taught anger isn’t an emotion they should express. They’re told—either implicitly or explicitly—to spend their lives keeping their fury locked inside for the benefit of others. But partly, Traister argues, that’s because the anger of women and girls has been a crucial catalyst for change, putting in motion some of the most defining social and political movements in our nation’s history. And it’s that anger that will blaze the path forward for the future.

Traister chronicles a concise history from the colonial era to the Women’s March of 2016 demonstrating how women’s rage has forged coalitions and created political change through movements for women’s and civil rights and more, and how the past decade has created an inflection point for women and girls who have yet to experience rights equal to men’s in the United States.
Ramin Abbas Has MAJOR Questions
by Ahmad Saber
"An intensely brave, gorgeously written story about a gay Muslim teen who has to choose between being true to himself or his faith - and his realization that maybe they aren’t as separate as he thought."

Now a senior at the top-ranked high school for Muslim teenagers, Pakistani Canadian Ramin can’t wait for the fresh start of college. He’s spent his whole life following the word of Allah, his parents, and his imam. His parents immigrated from Pakistan, sacrificing everything for him and his little brother, and expect Ramin to be halal in all things, meet a nice Muslim girl, and settle into devout family life. However, Ramin’s heart wishes for something - or someone - else: the strong, athletic captain of the soccer team. But at school, being gay is definitely haram, not allowed, so Ramin limits himself to dreams of moving away to New York City.

Then Ramin learns his graduation is in jeopardy, and the only chance he’s given to get the needed physical education credits quickly is to join the school’s soccer team…and train one-on-one with Fahad, a.k.a. Captain Handsome. It’s a nightmare of temptation and resistance, compounded by threats from a longtime bully who is blackmailing Ramin, threatening to reveal a secret that could ruin him. Ramin’s only ray of light is Omar, a sweet and caring new friend whose family believes in a different, kinder Allah. He gently prods Ramin to consider his faith more deeply, challenging Ramin’s long held belief of Allah as merciless and unforgiving by introducing him to one who is instead merciful and loving.

With graduation, a championship soccer match, and the blackmail looming, the pressure on Ramin is too much to keep buried. He must decide between the consequences of speaking his truth and living a lie. He must decide which Allah lives in the little mosque in his heart.
